Homesick!

Hello everyone!

I just feel
BLAH; I know I could try and find a word that could probably sum up how I really feel deep down, but I don't feel like searching for it. All I know is that I'm really really homesick.

If you didn't know by now, today ain't such a good day; I woke up really sore although I went to bed fairly early; I have been staring at pictures from my hometown
{because I made sure to take a few snapshots from my city} for the past 3 hours, and just through random pictures of me and my friends back home, and I am getting teary- eyed my friends. It probably doesn't help that Michael Buble's HOME is playing non-stop in the background.

I just wanted to share a few pictures from my previous life; I feel like I aged very quickly since I moved to France. I knew, somewhat to an extent, what it was like to worry about bills, and rent since my mom and I struggled a little bit, when we first moved to Ottawa but it wasn't as much as I know now. I can tell my friends back home about it but I don't think they really get it because they've always lived at home and I've always had this mayjah sense of independence. I've always felt like flying out of the nest at a young age and it didn't matter to me if I crashed and burn with every endeavour I took upon because there was always a lesson to be learnt at the end of every story.

Sure, there are days like
TODAY, where I miss anything and everyone but I don't think I would give up what I live right now. I sure as hell struggled (A LOT) to get mine and although there were quite a few bumps in the road, I feel like I'm coming to the end of the tunnel very soon and I just feel like I grew up so much going through everything I've gone through and I feel blessed, yes blessed, to have gone through it all. It's like God made everything tough for me to really test my strength and my faith.

Anywhoodles before I ramble on, here's an up-close and personal look into my life and my younger days and at my beautiful city and the little spots that I love.

{huge bronze spider outside of the National Gallery of Arts}

{me hugging said statue although I have a huge fright of spiders}

{Downtown Ottawa}

{Ottawa University Campus a.k.a MY HELL}

{Sunset at the locks}

{View of the parlament; they made us visit this place every year in middle school}

{ Skating down the Rideau Canal; well more like falling down for me- via google}

{Tulip festival}

{More tulips; I love tulips}

{ I found this picture on Photobucket and it's beautiful sunset; apparently it's in Ottawa. Hell yeah we have gorgeous sunsets like these; because that's how we roll}

{Downtown Rideau Center}

{my favorite bookshop on my favorite street. I love Chapters plus the Silvercity movie venue is like in the same parking lot; my two favorite hobbies within a few miles.}

{You cannot call yourself a canadian and not have had beaver tails; they are the best pastry ever made but I may be a little biased. Beaver Tails, Byward Market - via Google}

{My old high school. I have had the best memories from that time of my life and that's where I met my best friends - via Google}

{Zak's Diner is the IT stop for me; What more can I want? A diner that's open 24/7 with good food, pastel walls and a 50's vibe. The only thing that is missing to take the diner to the next level, is to have the waiters in rollerskates. I'm still waiting to hear some feedback on that idea ZAKS.- via Google}

{Sugar Moutain is the coolest place ever made; a huge candy store for kids and adults-via Google}

{Fairmont Chateau Laurier Hotel- beautiful inside; it's where we had our prom - via Google}

{Gatineau River- Where Ontario and Quebec meet}

{Myself bitching about something that was clearly important at Speaker's Corner. What's that, you say? Speaker's Corner is a place where you can say anything that's on your mind and maybe end up on TV on a Sunday. Plus the money they collect (it's like a buck) all goes to charity.}

{Prom- Tamar, SeaGull and I}

{Prom II- Me, Julianne and Kay}

{Prom III- Amelizzle, SeaGull and I}

{My best friends and I in Paris- Kay, Jo and I}

{what's with the very random dude?}

{Grad 2005; we looked so innocent and young}

{Amelizzle, me and SeaGull}

{SeaGull and I acting like mayjah fools}

{Soul-eka and I }

{Me, Mona Sanchez and Sue}

{Crazy Mona and I}

{Mona, SeaGull and I}

{My 20th birthday- Emily, me and Kay- Please excuse the intoxicated-looking eyes}

{My last day in Ottawa and my best friend's birthday- Kay, me, Emily and Jo}

This is what is getting to me at this point; seeing all of this makes me want to hop on a plane and go home. But I can't right now. So I'll just go take a walk and go to the farmer's market.

Enjoy your Friday! Hell yeah it's the weekend!

Arrivederci!

¡Hola! Hablo espanol.

Hello Everyone!!

I hope y'all had an excellent weekend as well as a kick ass start to this week. I spent a pretty relaxed weekend. I spent it mostly catching up on some of my ZZZs and watching movies. I have been known to be midly insomniac, sleeping at various hours of the day but this weekend was solely purposed to get back to a healthier sleeping habit. I'd like to say
"Mission Accomplished" but sadly, no; it was an epic fail. All I want right now is to crawl back under my covers and not emerge for about, let's say, a week or so. That's how exhausted I am. And this weather we've been having lately is not helping at all.

Although I was born and raised in one of the hottest countries in the world
{seriously I am not kidding; it's like freaking 40 degrees in the shade so imagine how hot it must be under the sun}, I still cannot get used to the warm rays of the sun, unless of course, there's a hot man, with his rock-hard abs, fanning me with a palm leaf. Only then, and only then, could me and the sun become actual best buds.

*What? Don't look at me like that. That is a legitimate fantasy, my friends. LEGITIMATE, I TELL YOU!*

France's weather was skyrocketting these past few days; it was like 30 degrees outside. I cannot stand the heat; I think I was made for the north Pole or something, seriously. The hot, thick, sticky
(is anybody else's mind in the gutter right now?) AIR has completely numbed me; literally boiling water for supper was like climbing mount Everest and not even getting to camp base 1. Thankfully today, it rained a little so the weather is in the low 20s and that's how I like it.

{This is so what I need to be doing instead of blogging.}

In other news, I started getting cracking on item numero veintiséis (26) on my bucket list which is "LEARN A FOREIGN LANGUAGE AND ACTUALLY USE IT". I currently speak only 3 languages, French, English and my maternal tongue which is Somalian. Although I, sometimes, brag about speaking Spanish since I took 5 years of Spanish through high school and college, I only remember the plain basics of it all, like counting to 30 and the colors.

I decided to sign up for online classes here and I'm learning everything from the beginning which is so cool. I wonder how I didn't find out about this website a long time ago. I figure since I live in France, and Spain isn't really that far, I could pop over there for a weekend or so, and really learn the dialect from the people who know it best a.k.a the spaniards. I'll let you know how well this goes.

{Doesn't this look heavenly? I wish I could die and go to heaven only to eat loads of this and not gain a single gram of fat; I am totally drooling over my keyboard right now; excuse me while I go get a napkin.}

I just wanted you to drool along with me; I am a huge fan of breakfast food for dinner and I am heavily considering making this for dinner tonight; I am tired of the spaghetti and meatballs that I have been having for the past 2 days.

And so I leave you with this little tidbit.

I will "talk" to y'all laterz alligatorz. Enjoy the rest of your day!!!!

5000 questions

How ingenious is this idea? I ran across Amanda's blog via Lauren's Fill in the Blanks Friday and I must admit am loving her blog; it's awesome. Check it out whenever you can. This is the 5000 questions, as if you didn't know me any better, so I decided to join in on the fun.

1. Who are you?

I am a child of love, a loving person, an awesome friend, a blogger, a frenchie, a canadian with african roots and a very random girl.

2. What are the 3 most important things everyone should know about you?

I am an only child; I am muslim and I'm very shy.

3. When you aren’t filling out 5,000 question surveys like this one what are you doing?

I am reading, blogging, keeping up with my friends back home, watching my favorite shows, taking walks.

4. List your classes in school from the ones you like the most to the ones you like the least (or if you are out of school, think of the classes you did like and didn’t like at the time).

I loved English Class and I've always hated Math and Sciences.

5. What is your biggest goal for this year?

Reach 100 subscribers on my blog.

6. Where do you want to be in 5 years?

Hopefully married with a little home of my own, just being happy.

7. What stage of life are you in right now?

I am currently preparing for my future life; trying to figure out what path I should take. I wish I could climb in an airplane and look down on the paths possible and see which one I should take to get to my happy ending.

8. Are you more child-like or childish?

I am child-like; I love watching cartoons while I eat my breakfast every morning. That's just what I do.

9. What is the last thing you said out loud?

Crap! Crap! Crappity-crap!

10. What song comes closest to how you feel about your life right now?

"If today was your last day" by Nickelback; I just don't want to take this life for granted and I want to learn from everything.

11. Have you if taken martial arts classes?

Does one class of kickboxing count?

12. Does your life tend to get better or worse or does it just stay the same?

Lately, it has been quite bad but I know that from there on out, it can only get better.

13. Does time really heal all wounds?

I don't know why people say that; time just makes the pain bearable. It makes the wound scar, granted but you're still left with a mark.

14. How do you handle a rainy day?

I love it; I go out under the rain {if it's not too cold} or I curl up in my bed, listening to the rain fall.

15. Which is worse…losing your luggage or having to sort out tangled holiday lights?

I've never had to sort out tangled holiday lights because we don't celebrate christmas but I have lost my luggage and that was so inconvenient.

16. How is your relationship with your parents?

My dad and I just kinda reconnected after an 8-year fallout. My mom and I have a good relationship; some aspects of it I'm not really confortable with but I know that at the end of the day, she is still my mother and I love her a lot. I have a buddy-type relationship with my step-father; he's been around for the past 3 years and so now and he makes me laugh until I cry. He's very awesome.

Will you miss them when they are gone?

I cannot even begin to imagine losing my parents; they are the ones I can call at 3 in the morning.

17. Do you tend to be aware of what is going on around you?

Yes, I'm very observant of everything around me; my eyes are like lasers. I see things that most people wouldn't see.

18. What is the truest thing that you know?

Love conquers all.

19. What did you want to be when you grew up?

Wow, I had a lot of dreams! When I was 5, I wanted to be an astronaut. When I was 7, I wanted to be a teacher like my mom. When I was 8, I wanted to be a pediatrician. When I was 9, I wanted to be a lawyer. When I was 11, I wanted to be a cop. When I was 13, I want to be a CSI. When I was 14, I wanted to be a hip hop dancer. Finally, I settled on being a journalist/writer.

20. Have you ever been given a second chance?

Yes, and a third one. People make mistakes; that's just the nature of things but being given a second chance is a gift.

That's it folks! I did my first 20 questions! Only 4,980 to go! Feel free to join in and see ya next week for the follow up of the 5000 questions.

P.S: You will now have Aqua's "Barbie Girl" stuck in your head! Enjoy!

FITBF!

Hello everyone!!!

Today is Friday which means it's time for Lauren's Fill in the blanks Friday; now I'm so excited for this one 'cause it's about fashion. So here we go and if you plan on doing this, please make sure to link back up to Lauren's blog.

1. One fashion trend I really regret is fanny packs; I was obssessed with them when I was younger. I wore them to school, I wore them around my house. I even wore them to bed.

2. The one thing that always completes any outfit is A pair of earrings. I am always wearing earrings whether I'm out or at home. My favorite pair is some diamond studs I got for my 20th birthday; I rock them mostly everyday.

3. I would describe my personal style as eclectic. I love changing up clothes and my style really depends on my mood. I love wearing my old skirts as tops or cut up a very large tee and make an off-the-shoulder top.

4. My fashion muse is Nicole Richie; her style is very bohemian with very loose clothes and I'm mostly in that kind of mood as of lately. I like taking hints from some other bloganistas such as Kelly @lionstigersandfashionohmy.com and Delmy @www.fashionbananas.com .

5. If I could own one designer piece of clothing it would be oh my! I wish for a lot of things but I'll try to narrow it to 3 or 4 :):
-Coco Chanel Quilted 2.55 Bag in Black......I've always wanted one.
-Christian Louboutins black round toe pumps.
-Burberry Classic Tan Trench
- Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress.... (that would make one sick oufit)

6. I would love to raid the wardrobe of Kate Hudson, Nicole Richie, Rachel Bilson and Gwen Stefani.

7. Today I am wearing a thrifted purple and black summer dress with a Zara black cardigan, thrifted black belt, dangly gray earrings, and studded black flats from André .

{sort of like this except for a different belt}

I love...

*Disclaimer*I saw this on this random blog, I'm sorry I can't remember which one, but I thought it was so nifty that I've written down the idea but not the blog link itself.
