When I have nothing left to say

There was something comforting about you; yeah, YOU. Are you surprised I'm mentionning you right now? I bet you are. With the way we left things, I guess it does come quite as a shock.

Well, you used to be one of the rarest people I could turn to just to chit chat about life and my anxieties; one of the few persons who could make me laugh without even trying; one of the few people I could sorta let myself just be without wondering if they would think I was a nutjob.

Look where we both are now. An ocean lies between us and we both live our lives separetely. What happened to us? Why did we fall apart? I wouldn't even know where to begin really; even if I tried.

All I know is that I miss my friend. And I shouldn't. Because YOU SHOULD BE around. You should still be the person I'd talk to just to have a talk. You should still be the person who makes me laugh and makes me forget about my fears for a moment. You should still be the person who understood me and my point of views and who never judged me for it.

You should still be MY FRIEND, period. And I should be yours. I am usually the type of person who doesn't say out loud what she feels for a person but I realised that life is too freaking SHORT! Today, we could both be on this earth but tomorrow, I don't know if either of us will still be around. And life is too short not to tell the people who really matter to us that we love them despite everything.

So if this ever reaches you, just know that I miss you. A LOT! No matter what happened, I still care about you. No matter what happens, I still care. If you ever need me, then you KNOW where to reach me.

45 Life Lessons.

I just saw this little note that my friend posted up on Facebook and it struck such a chord with me. Sometimes, you need to hear some wise truth in order to see life in a different way. Here is 45 life lessons from a 90 year old.

{Bolded italics lessons are the ones I should start living by.}

To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most requested column I've ever written.

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.

8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16.. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn't kill you REALLY does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one

else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don'tsave it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.

35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

I have a confession to make

*I love to watch makeup tutorials.*

There, I said it! Phew! It feels like a weight has been lifted off my chest! Yes, I completely, simply, and utterly can spend HOURS, not minutes, HOURS watching makeup tutorials on YouTube. I don't know how I first got started with it but now it has become, by far, my most favorite thing to do when I'm on YouTube. I don't know if it's the color combinations, the techniques or the beauty gurus's knowledge but I cannot get enough of it.

I realised something not too long ago; by watching these videos, I slowly started to pick up their tricks to a flawless face. Growing up, I'd buy makeup but I never knew how to apply it correctly. I'd choose the wrong color for my foundation; I've never heard of the word "concealer" and I thought that an eyelash curler was a torture device. It would even be a miracle if my eyebrows were defined. I'd let them be wild and close to being a unibrow. NO LIE!

Exhibit A: Please excuse my best friend K's face in the background. Granted, you can only see half of my face but: wild bushy eyebrows? Check! Bags the size of a bucket of KFC? Check! At least I'm keeping my teeth blingin'. Thank you Crest Whites!

Exhibit B: Please excuse the drunk eyes! I swear I wasn't drunk; I was high..............HIGH ON LIFE THAT IS! I attempted to add a bright lip to my look but as you can tell, too much colour can make you look like Bozo the clown. Whiter face? Check! Red lips? Check! All I'm missing is the red nose and I'm set!

Thanks to the few ladies I will soon present to you, I went from "Drab to Fab"! Well not really, but my makeup application is definitely better and I get to experiment with looks that I've never tried before. These might just be my favorites.

This photo has been definitely put in B&W but I learned that for an old school Hollywood Glamour look, a winged liner is the way to go à la Sophia Loren.

For a nice bright pop of colour, please keep the rest of your face neutral.

And last but not least, define those eyebrows girl! They say "eyes are the windows to the soul" and your eyebrows are your window frames; well I just made that last one up but hey it works in this case, doesn't it? I must say so myself, my frames are working it!

What a difference right? Now, I wish I could say that this magic was all self-taught but it's not. I've learned from the top beauty gurus on YouTube and I'll give you guys my top 4 favorite beauty gurus so you can check them out too!

This is the deal about mistakes; sometimes, you know you're not supposed to make them yet you can't help but make it anyway.

Sometimes, you've just got to touch that hot plate even though you know it's going to burn you.

Sometimes, you might date the wrong person in order to find the right person for you.

Often, you might just forget your bag or purse on a bus more than once even though you know your money, keys, and Ids are in there.

At times, you might decide to change your hair color even though you know that with your skintone, there is not a chance in hell you'll pull off that color.

And maybe, just maybe, you'll taste the food you've made to improve for the next time you'll prepare this dish even though you have a feeling it'll be nasty.

See, without making mistakes, we wouldn't know the difference between right and wrong. Mistakes is another way to get to the end of your path. It's another way to do things and frankly for me, it's the only way. It's like when you were learning how to start writing when you were little. How did you learn? By trials and errors; by making mistakes. Maybe your I's were not dotted or your T's weren't crossed; without your teacher telling you that in fact, you were making a mistake and that your I's should be dotted and your T's crossed, we wouldn't know how to write properly. The same principle goes into life. without making the wrong choices, you might never know what are the right ones for you. You know how that saying goes:

"There are certain times in life when you think this might be a mistake but you don't really know it's a mistake because the only way to know if it's a mistake is to make said-so mistake and go "yup; that one was definitely a mistake."
